Population graph

     Today in class we watched another video and took notes. These notes were a add-on to yesterday's notes. Today's video was on a teacher who found a new way to help visualize population and how people live. He made a diagram using a coordinate grid where the y axis represented lifespan and the x axis is the annual income. Then he represented each of the top countries of each region with a circle. The larger the countries population the larger the circle. The circles were color coordinated by region. First he depicted where the circles were in 1810 with all of them being in the bottom left corner of the grid with people having a low lifespan and low annual income. Then he changed the dates and the circles moved accordingly. The European and American countries were the farthest with annual income and life span. Then when countries became more modern they started to move to the top right corner. This is used to show how countries with higher income usually have higher life expectancy.

 Toady in class instead of reviewing the test we read and took notes on the next three sections. The first section was on the Rise of Christianity and talked about how Jesus' teachings spread. The most important reason they spread was because his teachings brought salvation to all. Christianity was a vision that a Roman emperor had before he went into battle. They won the battle and he made it so Christians would no longer be persecuted.

Test review

  Most of today in class was spent reviewing last weeks test from last week. Class was last mod today so everyone was more lethargic than usual. Since I was the only person to get a 100% on the test I really didn't need the review. The only plus side of reviewing was I had time to write the answers on the test so I could use it without my scan tron sheet. The rest of class time was spent taking notes on the population power point. We discussed immigration and emigration and why. We used the example of Canada and why people would want to immigrate there because their rate is so high. We came to the conclusion that the healthcare paid for by the government was a pull factor in people's decisions to move to Canada.

Greek Mytholgy

     Today class was supposed to mainly be on taking notes on Greek mythology,  but we got pretty off topic. We got off topic and spent most of class on questioning the credibility of sources. This started when students questioned if the Greek god's really weren't real and it was concluded there was no real way to prove there existence or disprove it. Then we started to broaden that to all religions. There is no real proof that God existed or didn't exist that is why people must have faith. Then we moved o to history where you said that history is written by the victors which means the civilizations who survived and passed on their history wrote about their history from their point of view. One example is if Germany won world war two, Hitler would be known as a great leader who defeated the allies and killed off the "evil" Jews. We concluded with that all these factors should be considered before coming to a conclusion on how history could have played out.
